✅ Opening of the 18th International Tourism and Handicrafts Exhibition in Mashhad
🔷 The Director of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark announced the opening of the 18th International Tourism and Handicrafts Exhibition held in Mashhad. He stated that the opening ceremony of the 18th International Tourism and Handicrafts Exhibition of Mashhad took place on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the presence of Mousa Al-Reza Hajibeglou, Head of the Supreme Council of Provinces; Anoushirvan Mohseni-Bandpey, Deputy Minister of Tourism at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts; Maryam Jalali, Deputy Minister of Handicrafts at the same ministry; Gholamhossein Mozaffari, Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province; along with a number of executive officials, city managers, ambassadors and representatives of foreign countries, and managers of private-sector NGOs.
🔹 Dr. Sheibani, referring to the numerous capacities of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark in the fields of tourism and handicrafts, stated that in this national and international event, the geopark— in cooperation with the County Office of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts— is participating through the introduction of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark Supporters Network. The focus is on local products, arts, and handicrafts of the county, with the aim of branding and marketing the supporters, creating synergy among tourism stakeholders, further introducing the region’s capacities, and attracting investment in this sector.
🔹 He noted that the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark is the only Iranian geopark present at this exhibition and has been warmly welcomed by the organizers and participants. He described the participation of all provinces as remarkable and stated that the geopark is attending alongside 490 companies and institutions from across the country.
🔹 Dr. Sheibani added that the presence of more than five booths representing foreign countries—including Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan— is among the capacities that can create opportunities for inviting them to Tabas and fostering effective international cooperation.
🔹 In conclusion, he stated that the event runs from May 14 to Saturday evening, May 17, 2025, and is open daily from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. In addition to handicraft traders and tourism industry professionals, the general public can also visit the exhibition.
