Ritual of Sustenance, Livelihood, and Blessing; Sartakhmi Festival
According to the Public Relations of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Tabas, the second Sartakhmi Festival was held at the Khanik Rice Fields Geosite (Azmighan Village).
The second traditional ritual of “Sartakhmi,” focusing on sustenance, livelihood, and blessing, was held at the Khanik Rice Fields Geosite. This ceremony, considered an age-old tradition of the region’s people, is performed concurrently with the start of the rice seed-sowing season in the fields. After sowing the seeds, farmers recite prayers, seeking blessings for the harvest and increased sustenance in the upcoming year.
This ritual was held with the aim of commemorating the intangible heritage of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Tabas and preserving the ancient customs and traditions of Azmighan Village.
This year’s celebration was met with a warm reception from fellow citizens, tourists, and enthusiasts of local culture, featuring cultural, epic, and performance programs.
In the artistic segment of the ceremony, the village’s student choir, local poetry readings, and ritualistic performances by farmers were showcased. Mr. Haqani served as the program’s emcee.
Additionally, the Central District Governor, the Director of the UNESCO Global Geopark of Tabas, the Head of the County’s Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, the Head of the County’s Agricultural Jihad Department, the Head of the Chamber of Guilds, the village head (Dehyar), and the members of the Islamic Council of Azmighan Village were also present at this event.
