Donation of 50 fossils to the
Geoheritage Museum of Tabas Geopark
According to Tabas Geopark Public Relations, the director of the Geoheritage Museum announced the donation of 50 pieces of trilobite fossils (from the arthropod family) by a member of the geology faculty of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
Dr. Vesal Yahya Sheibani, stating that the trilobite fossil is one of the most significant fossils of the first geological era (with an age value of about 480 million years), was donated to the Tabas Geopark Geoheritage Museum by Dr. Abbas Ghaderi.
She said this fossil collection has been collected from different areas of Tabas county in last years during research and scientific activities.
Trilobites are among the creatures that became extinct 251 million years ago, and they are very important scientifically and biographically on planet Earth.
Currently, there are more than 770 samples in this museum, include fossils, minerals and rocks of Tabas county for public display and visit.
