✅ Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province visits Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark to gain experience toward Yazd’s geopark initiative.
🔷According to the Public Relations Office of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark, Engineer Rastegari, Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Yazd Province, along with the Deputy Director of Tourism and Dr. Almodarresi, a faculty member of Yazd University, visited the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark.
🔹The purpose of this visit was to learn about the capacities and management approach of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark and to benefit from its successful experiences as Yazd Province moves toward registering three geoparks.
🔹During the visit, the Director General toured several key geosites of the geopark and then visited the Visitor Center and the Geopark Museum, where he became acquainted with the geopark’s promotional and educational programs.
🔹Subsequently, a meeting was held with the management and experts of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark, during which both sides discussed topics such as geopark registration processes, management, sustainable development, and the role of local communities in geoparks.
🔹Dr. Sheibani described the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark as a successful global model in Iran and emphasized the importance of sustainable and responsible use of the country’s natural and God-given resources as a valuable opportunity to present Iran to the world.
🔹In this meeting, Engineer Rastegari expressed his appreciation for the hospitality of the Tabas UNESCO Global Geopark and highlighted the importance of leveraging Tabas’s successful experience in preparing Yazd Province to join the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.
