Morteza Ali hot spring geosite is one of the most unique geological attractions of Tabas and Iran, located 29 km east of Tabas city in the tourist area of Kharv and Kal-e Sardar. This geosite is a series of hot springs seen next to each other. The largest outlet of the spring is known as Morteza Ali Bath among the locals. The springs are located in the limestone walls of Shah Abbasi Strait and formed through the cracks and fractures of the walls.
The maximum water temperature of these springs has been up to 37 degrees Celsius, but its temperature varies slightly in different seasons. Besides, hot and cold-water streams are not mixed for a distance of hundreds of meters due to the difference in the density and salt of cold-water springs in the vicinity of this spring along with the water flow of Sardar river, which is supplied upstream by Ghanbar spring. The flow of hot and cold water in the same stream has resulted in one of the most distinctive and unique attractions of Iran. The presence of a large number of algae and plants growing next to these springs has doubled the beauty of this desert region of Iran.
