Planning Meeting for Tabas Geopark Implementation

The meeting was attended by Engineer , Talaei Moghaddam, Deputy Governor and Special Governor of the city, Engineer Koriti, CEO of Tabas Coal Company, Engineer Tusi, Mayor, Members of the Islamic City Council, Engineer Jalali, Head of the Mining and Trade Department, Mr. Behbahani, Head of Cultural Heritage Representative of Tabas Coal Mining Development Company (Imidro), Director of Environment Department, Representative of Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management, Dr. Sheibani Director of Geopark Group and experts of the group held a meeting at Tabas Heritage Museum.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Sheybani, Director of the Tabas Geopark Group, welcomed the attendees and thanked the Honorable Governor for the comprehensive support so far, outlining the concepts and procedures of a Geopark as well as the actions and activities undertaken so far. The Tabas Land Heritage Museum is considered one of the best specialized museums of Iran (especially in the east of the country) and also engineers of the time introduced the experts of Tabas Geopark group to their geoparks and activities in Iran and the world.

Dr. Sheibani further expressed the need for funding, infrastructure and financial support in order to implement the proposed Tabas Geopark activities, which required the cooperation and participation of all the executive agencies of the city.
The director of the Tabas Geopark Group also expressed hope for a bright horizon facing the city in the field of geotourism, announcing the visit of Prof. Martini, the chairman of the UNESCO World Geoparks Supreme Council, to Tabas next month.
