The name of the Jafaran (Jafaroo) anticline geosite is taken from the abandoned village of Jafroo and is located 65 km west of Tabas (along the Tabas-Tehran road). According to geologists, this geosite is one of the most beautiful anticlines of Iran in Tabas Geopark in terms of dimensions and erosion. This anticline is originated in limestone and sandstone dating back 171-199 million years ago (Early to Middle Jurassic). The flatiron shapes are among the erosive morphologies found on the flanks of this anticline, leading to a unique beauty in this area.
