This geosite is located at a distance of 75 km from the Tabas-Tehran road and is known among local geologists as the Darin angular unconformity. This unconformity is one of the oldest and most beautiful unconformities of Iran in Tabas Geopark, which appeared in the rocks of the first geological period. The rocks of the lower surface belong to more than 600 million years ago (Precambrian of Kalmard Formation) and the rocks of the upper surface belong to 490-471 million years ago (Early Ordovician of Shirgesht Formation). Simultaneously with the formation of these sediments in other parts of Iran, tectonic activities and orogenic movements have led to widespread sea retreat from the Kalmard region. leading to biological extinction and no early sedimentation in the first geological period in this area. According to geological evidence, the absence of sediments in this unconformity is estimated to be more than 100 million years.
