Discovery of fossil site in Tabas Geopark

?️ Dr. Vesal Yahya Sheibani, director of Tabas Geopark and faculty member of Payame Noor University in the Tabas center, announced the identification of a fossil site south of the geopark.
?️Experts from Tabas Geopark identified a very unique and valuable fossil site during a visit to the southern areas of Geopark on Thursday, 10 February. This fossil site includes a variety of corals and bivalves, dating back to about 205 to 220 million years ago, and the diversity and expansion of fossil layers in this site is unique.
?️The director of Tabas Geopark, noting that Tabas has been named by many geological thinkers and experts, the geological paradise and the Museum of Fossils of Iran, this geopark has taken appropriate measures in this regard and in the future by identifying and studying Most of the area will be properly protected and operated.
?️It should be noted that a number of these fossils have been transferred to the Geoheritage Museum of Tabas for study and public viewing.
