?️ For the first time in 2016, the Iranian Paleontological Society, in line with its promotion-educational goals and following the International Association of Paleontologists, chose October 25 as “National Fossil Day”.

?️ The main purpose of choosing and introducing such an occasion is to introduce more fossils and knowledge of paleontology to various enthusiasts, from students to the general public, and to introduce the applications of this science in understanding the history of the earth, the history of life, and the exploration of hydrocarbon reserves, and also establishing communication between experts of this basic knowledge with the society.

?️This year’s slogan of Iran Paleontological Society for National Fossil Day is “Introducing and focusing on Mesozoic life”.

❇️ Unveiling the symbol of the National Fossil Day 2023.

?️ The symbol chosen for the logo of National Fossil Day 2023 is an image of a new species of gastropod that was introduced in article: ‘’Gastropoda from Lower Cretaceous Deposits of Nimbolook Area, Eastern Iran (Raisossadat et al., 2022)’’ and named for the first time as Oligoptyxis khorasanic.
